Celebrate your Small Achievements: The real definition of productivity

How often do we set ourselves up to fail?

Not too long ago, I had a profound realization: my understanding of productivity was wrong.

In my mind, a productive day was synonymous with achieving something monumental.

It was a day when I closed a big client deal, unlocked a crucial opportunity, or successfully completed a significant project.

But what about all those other days in between?

Even if I managed to accomplish 100 remarkable feats in a year, which is already an ambitious goal, I was left with a staggering 265 days that seemed to lack value. This meant that I was inadvertently setting myself up to feel like a failure 2 out of every 3 days.

So, I made a conscious decision to shift my perspective and start celebrating my small achievements.

I've come to understand that celebrating these smaller victories is just as important as acknowledging the big milestones. It's about recognizing and appreciating the journey itself, not just the destination. Because, if you think about it, there is no way to get to the finish line without each and every step.

For instance, today, I'm celebrating a seemingly small achievement that holds immense significance in my personal journey. I've delivered my printed thesis to my university, a crucial step towards finally getting my college degree.

Now, you might wonder why such a seemingly routine task could be a cause for celebration. Well, because this act represents progress. It signifies that I am inching closer to achieving my ultimate goal—finally getting my degree when I finished school in 2019.

Come to think of it, there's a profound sense of accomplishment in taking these incremental steps, knowing they are building blocks toward a larger achievement.
